Our Lady of Talpa School is a Catholic elementary school located in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles. Our school community includes children from Transitional Kindergarten through 8th grade. Sponsored by the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, we are steeped in the Vincentian charism of service and serve families regardless of income. 92% of Our Lady of Talpa students qualify for free or reduced lunch through the National School Lunch Program.
In the spirit of the Daughters of Charity and the founders of our Vincentian charism, St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac, we place service to the poor at the forefront of our endeavors, and we operate holding true to the belief that “educating the mind without educating the heart is not an education.”
Since we opened our doors on September 1, 1951, we have constantly endeavored to provide a strong academic and Catholic Faith foundation for our students. We collaborate with and support parents, who we believe are the primary educators of our children, and we are committed to providing a faith community where children may thrive.
Our mission to provide a strong academic and Catholic Faith foundation for our students gains support from our Catholic, Vincentian environment; our dedicated faculty and staff; our solid curriculum – which includes music and art classes; our extra-curricular activities; and our student and family health and support services.
The Our Lady of Talpa School community is ever striving to develop and grow as we nurture and guide our students to be active community members and life-long learners.
